Presenting Version 5.2

Your Prepaid Upgrade of the Volunteer Reporter

People sometimes ask us how we decide what to include in an upgrade and if we're going to run out of things to improve. Well, we include as many of your suggestions as possible and no, it's not very likely that we'll ever run out of improvements. As a group, you seem to have an endless supply of ideas to make the Reporter better.

In version 5.2, we've included the following suggestions:

In short, we try to do what you ask us to do, so keep asking. By listening to your suggestions and critiques, we strive to make every upgrade as useful as possible for as many of you as we can. Check out the enclosed installation instructions for a complete list of new features in 5.2.

We never hold out improvements in order to include them next year, we simply run out of time. We spend all year planning, designing, and programming an upgrade. Every change ripples throughout the Reporter and has to be checked and double-checked, tested and retested. Just in case we made a mistake, visit www.volsoft.com periodically to see if we've posted any patches.

Data Sets
In 5.2, you can now maintain multiple sets of data. You can easily switch between a set of just RSVP volunteers and a completely separate set of "Under 55" volunteers. This should help those who run several county projects or an RSVP along with a Volunteer Center. With this change, it's no longer valid for us to charge you based upon the number of data sets you maintain.

Instead, it makes sense to charge based upon the number of separate, physical locations at which you use the Reporter. Not the number of computers, but the number of locations or buildings. Most of you in one location won't see any change, but we'll be sending all of you a letter sixty days prior to your technical support renewal date with more information explaining the changes.

Thank you for your help in designing the best volunteer software on the market.

Sincerely,
Lane Coddington
Founder and President
