There are three areas where you can select a volunteer’s Primary Job Placement in Reporter version 6.1: Volunteers, Placements, and Jobs. And there’s a new Primary Placements Report.
In Volunteers on the Placements tab you can select a job and then click the Make Primary button. This designates this job to this volunteer as primary. If you need to change to a different job, simply check that one. The Reporter allows only one primary job.
In the Placements section you can select a volunteer and a particular placement and then click the Make Primary button to make the selected job that volunteer’s primary job. You can repeat for other volunteers one at a time.
In Jobs/Clients you can perform the assignment on a single volunteer by simply double-clicking the Primary checkbox. Or double-click to deselect. You can also assign multiple volunteers at once. The Primary button in Jobs/Clients assigns this job as the primary job to ALL these volunteers, active and inactive unless you select Active Only.
In Jobs/Clients on the Volunteers tab you can assign all volunteers with a placement in this job when you click the Primary button. It doesn’t matter which one is highlighted.
First decide if you want to assign the job as primary to ALL inactive and active placements at this job, including inactive volunteers.
If you leave the Active Only checkbox unchecked, ALL inactive and active placements at this job, including inactive volunteers will be assigned to this primary job when you click the Make Primary button. Like this:
When you click the Make Primary button you are asked, “Do you want to mark all of these placements as being primary?”
Clicking Yes instantly assigns all the volunteers with a placement past and present in this job to make this their primary job.
Or, if you want instead to assign the job as primary to only volunteers with active placements at this job, check the Active Only checkbox first.
When you click the Make Primary button you are asked, “Do you want to mark all of these placements as being primary?”
Clicking Yes instantly assigns all the volunteers with current placements in this job to make this their primary job.
Result: only the active placements were assigned as the primary job for those volunteers.
To evaluate your placements, use the Volunteer Primary Placements report.
