People Helping People

The Reporter is quite flexible, with custom code fields for Volunteers, Stations and Jobs. Each of those sections has a Codes tab which provides plenty of fully customizable fields, including naming the fields, setting the values for the drop-down codes, rearranging the dates, number, and text fields to align with codes fields, or even turning off unused codes. That customization is done from the Reference Codes menu up top.

The Reporter allows you to customize or turn off various fields in Preferences.

If you don’t see a feature you need, please submit a Wish List request to us. We upgrade the Reporter annually based on customer suggestions.

Our customers are sometimes very creative in their use of the Reporter. For instance, some organizations which track clients-served make the client a Station with various Jobs [with custom codes] to which Volunteers are assigned. That way they can track their clientele’s demographics and stats.

Web Assistant Customization

You can customize the Web Assistant interface via some settings changes and your header graphic. Within the Web Assistant settings for Jobs you choose whether or not to include the station name. The Jobs list displays in the Web Assistant in a scrollable page with the job name first and then the station name.

The Web Assistant is designed to take the customer-designed header as your header for every page, thereby giving the same feel as the originating website as the volunteer goes back and forth between the two sites seamlessly. Content can be customized simply by editing message text within the settings, what we call the back end of the Web Assistant within the Volunteer Reporter. Other adjustable settings include turning off fields which you may not want to include in your online application, like Social Security number. Changes are uploaded with a simple send-and-receive.

Web Assistant Job Searchability

A person can use the search feature in the browser [Ctrl-F] to find a specific job. For Jobs organization you can name your jobs and/or stations in such a way that they group according to category or geography.

Web Assistant Generic Jobs

Some people like to turn off the display of Stations for their Jobs on the Web Assistant and list generic jobs, for example, a hospital might list a Greeter job but not which floor [Station] it is on. They add an asterisk, e.g., * Greeter, to each of those generic jobs. In the Reporter, those jobs alphabetize to the top. A filter called something like Web Jobs lets them send only those generic jobs to the Web. When they receive applications or volunteer requests for those jobs, they then decide to which actual job they place the volunteer.
