The Volunteer Reporter displays dates according to each Windows user’s settings in the Region and Language control panel.
Set the language and date formats in Windows. Menus, buttons and other program features always display in English, however.
In the US the settings below are common for the dates format —
Control Panel | Region and Language | choose language | and set the language to English (United States).
Canada Regional and Language Options
English speaking Canadians running the Reporter can use this setting for their dates format —
Control Panel | Regional and Language Options | choose language | and set the language to English (Canada).

And you set your country to Canada in the Reporter:
File | Preferences | Country tab
Other countries can use the Other setting to customize.
