We never recommend using the Volunteer Reporter over VPN, but some organizations successfully use the Reporter that way. Although we have no way to test these suggestions at VolSoft, here are some customer tips.
Getting the Reporter to Read the Data
“Wake up” the networked data connection by going into My Computer/Computer and clicking on the data folder. Then close My Computer/Computer and open the Reporter.
Performance Depends upon:
- network speed
- use Ethernet rather than wireless
- memory [RAM]
- patience—one click should open the Reporter, whereas impatient clicks can freeze a computer
